Both Trump and Pence Continue to Refuse to Release Their Tax Returns

Posted on August 03, 2016

If you are a regular reader of this blog, you are aware that Donald Trump has consistently refused to release his tax returns, stating that he cannot release them because they are under audit by the IRS, a position that has been widely refuted. Trump’s refusal to release his tax returns is also contrary to a 40-year tradition of Presidents and presidential candidates releasing their tax returns to the public.

Now Trump’s running mate, Indiana Governor Mike Pence, has refused to release his tax returns as well. This development signals the first time in modern history that both the presidential and vice presidential nominees have refused to release their tax returns.

Interestingly enough, Pence provided copies of his tax returns to the Trump campaign as part of the normal vetting process to be Trump’s running mate.  However, Pence has joined Trump in refusing to release his tax returns. Like her or not, Hilary Clinton has released the last 33 years of her tax returns.

We think that both Trump and Pence should release their tax returns. What do you think?
