Defaulted Installment Agreement Renegotiated, Reinstated

Posted on June 08, 2010

A former client for whom we previously negotiated an installment agreement found himself in trouble again when he could not pay the liability listed on his 2009 1040 income tax return. Attorney Patrick Sheehan previously negotiated an installment agreement in the amount of $1,500.00 per month on a $72,000.00 liability. The taxpayer incurred an addtional liability of $49,000.00 on his 2009 tax return that he could not pay. As a result, the IRS defaulted the prior installment agreement and began to take steps to seize our taxpayer’s assets, including his wages. Attorney Raymond Gaynor negotiated another installment agreement that included the liability for 2007, 2008 and 2009, which was now over $100,000.00. Despite long odds and a very angry IRS, Ray renogtiated the installment agreement for the same amout as the prior agreement, only $1,500.00 per month.
