Did you know that the IRS can take your professional license away?

Posted on June 01, 2012

Doctors, lawyers, roofers and even nail technicians are among the many people that are required to hold a valid license to legally perform the services that they provide. Did you know that if you owe money to the IRS or Illinois Department of Revenue that your license can be taken away? The IRS or the IDR can actually go to the licensing agency and ask them to take away your license. The IDR is far more aggressive than the IRS regarding the use of this tactic. It also seems counterintuitive to take away your license. How can you make the money to pay your back taxes if they take away your license? They really do it to get your attention, but the loss of your license is a very serious risk. Do you owe money to the IRS or the IDR? Call us, we can help. Call us before the IRS calls you!
