Hops for Humanity Approaching $100,000 Donated to Local Charities

When Chicago tax attorney Patrick Sheehan and his wife and friends started the charity Hops for Humanity in 2014, little did they know what a huge success it would become. Three years later they are proud to announce that they have raised $94,500.00 for deserving local charities and plan to go over the $100,000.00 mark at their next event in April 2017.

The concept behind Hops for Humanity is simple and delicious. Sheehan and Hops members gather together four times per year to raise money for greater Chicagoland charities while enjoying unique craft beer from local breweries. Anybody can become a member of Hops for Humanity. At each event, committed Hops members submit eligible local charities, and everybody who attends can vote to help choose the winner. The money raised at each event is then donated to the charity selected by the group that evening.

Here is a list of winning charities that have received donations from Hops for Humanity events:

At their most recent event in January 2017, they raised $10,600.00 for We Grow Dreams whose mission is to provide training and employment to people with disabilities who learn how to run the day-to-day operations of a wholesale and retail greenhouse business. The January event was held at the innovative Red Arrow Tap Room in Elmhurst, a pour your own beer establishment, and Hops for Humanity thanks them for their support.

Their Spring event will be held at Imperial Oak Brewing, 501 Willow Blvd, Willow Springs, IL at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, April 17, 2017. Imperial Oak focuses on imperial strength and barrel aged beers and is the vision of local home brewers Brett Semenske and Grant Hamilton and their partner, Chris DiBraccio. All three men have a passion for making (and drinking) great beer.
