Looking for a way to pair his love of craft beer with his desire to give back to the community, Patrick T. Sheehan has founded a new local 501(c)3 non-profit organization called Hops for Humanity. Sheehan and a dedicated group of people will gather together four times a year to raise money for greater Chicagoland charities while drinking unique craft beer from local breweries.
Hops for Humanity members gather quarterly at a local restaurant or brewery to select and benefit a local charity. The goal is to recruit a minimum of 100 members, each donating $100 at each event. Once membership is achieved, a winning charity will receive a minimum of $10,000. Multiplied by four events per year, Hops for Humanity members will donate a minimum of $40,000 annually to local charities!
Because Hops for Humanity is a recognized as a 501(c)3 charitable organization, donations are completely tax deductible and will go directly to vetted local charities. On the fun side of this, event participants will get to taste unique or reserve beer from local, small batch, craft breweries, some even off the radar ones that are still unknown even in the local community.
The first event is January 12 at The Snuggery.
Craft beer donations by Tighthead Brewing Company of Mundelein, IL and distributed by Schamberger Brothers.
