According to The Daily Dot the IRS accidentally uploaded tens of thousands of social security numbers (SSN) to an online database. The mistake was caught by a non-profit organization, PublicResource.org, and the database was then shut down. Many are upset with the “bad internet hygiene” of the IRS and they are hopeful that the IRS starts taking better precautions to keep other situations like this arising in the future.
