Roger Harris, Padgett Business Services President and Chief Operating Officer, provided testimony before a House Small Business subcommittee June 22, 2016, regarding the need for more training for IRS auditors. He stated that franchise owners have experienced inconsistent quality in IRS personnel, with some auditors appearing to lack knowledge of tax law.
“It is readily apparent that older, more experienced auditors have the benefits of more training, a deeper understanding of the law, and more real life experiences to guide them.”
Newer IRS auditors have only a basic understanding of the law and lack experience that can result in delays or in incorrect determinations for the taxpayer. We have experienced inconsistencies with IRS auditors in the recent past, which is very troubling.
We also agree that IRS auditors need more training. Are you under audit by the IRS? Call us, we can help.
