The IRS has announced the opening of the 2015 filing season.
Taxpayers can now file their federal Form 1040 tax returns for 2014 with the IRS.
The Free File system is available to taxpayers beginning on January 16, 2015, and the IRS will begin accepting all tax returns on January 20, 2015.
Unique to tax returns this year are questions regarding whether a taxpayer has enrolled in the Affordable Care Act.
These questions will only require a “check box” answer. The IRS expects to receive 150 million individual tax returns.
Further, the IRS expects more than four out of five tax returns to be electronically filed.
We note that your federal and state Form 1040 tax returns for 2014 are due on or before April 15, 2015, unless a timely extension is filed.
