An article posted on BigStory.ap.org talks about an apology that the IRS has issued, saying that they are sorry for targeting conservative groups.
The IRS had been singling out organizations based on keywords used in their application such as “tea party” or “patriot” and then unlawfully asking for lists of donors in their applications for tax-exempt status.Although there were about 75 groups targeted and none had their tax-exempt status revoked, the acts were initiated by lower level workers around Cincinnati, which no high level officials knew about.
The IRS sends an apology to any of the groups that feel as though they were unfairly targeted. They apologize for the troubles and are working to resolve all issues at hand.
