Sheehan Law’s very own, Julie Miller was elected as Chairman of the Board by the Elmhurst Board of Directors November 12.

Miller approached the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce president, John Quigley for a referral to find an internship while she was still in school at Elmhurst College. Quigley instead offered her a paid internship with the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce and thus began her tenure with the organization. Over the years, Miller has worked on projects including the Spring Luncheon, Elmfest and the annual golf outing. John Quigley states, “Julie is the first Chamber intern that has risen to the role of Chairman of the Board and I am proud she has succeeded.”

Miller decided to stay in Elmhurst after graduation and extended her internship with The Chamber. Her hard work and determination continued as she accepted a position at Patrick T. Sheehan & Associates as a receptionist beginning on July 31, 2000. Now the office manager and a paralegal, Miller manages all aspects of the company, from negotiating contracts, preparing budgets and supervising staff to preparing financial statements and working with clients.

She has continued to be active with Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce, including volunteering on the Elmfest committee through it’s last year in 2008. She also remains involved in the golf outing, including chairing the event held in August 2013. She was awarded the Chamber’s Good Works Award in 2010. Miller served as 2nd Vice Chair and Chair of the membership committee of the Executive Board of the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors in 2012 and as 1st Vice Chair and Chair of the Marketing committee is 2013. Her term as Chairman of the Board with end in November 2014.

Miller is an active philanthropist. Besides her involvement with the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce, she has been member of the Elmhurst Jaycees since 2000 and chaired the Distinguished Service Award banquet from 2001 through 2012. She continues to play volleyball competitively and supports ECVB as a Bluejay Backer since 2000.
