Grateful Client Applauds Firm’s Work

Dear Mr. Sheehan;

Please accept my compliments and convey my thanks, appreciation, and gratitude to the members of your firm; especially, attorney Rob Rush and the young ladies at your reception desk. Briefly, I had a huge problem in the form of years of unfiled returns.

From my initial call to your office for an appointment and my first meeting with Rob to the final and satisfactory resolution of all the legal issues related to my self-induced tax problems, I was always greeted with courteous and outstanding professional service.

During the course of my experience with your firm, I called and visited your office several times.  Each time, the receptionists greeted me by name and were courteous and helpful.  Beyond navigating the resolution of my problems with the Internal Revenue Service and Illinois Department of Revenue and providing expert legal advice and service, Rob was empathetic when I expressed my anxiety about the problem I had caused myself.

I am grateful for everything your firm provided and did for me. I will always feel confident recommending your firm to anyone who expresses concern because of tax-related legal problems. Again, thank you

The Back Story:

Individual from Cook County, IL

Our taxpayer, a Cook County resident, had not filed a federal Form 1040 tax return for several years. As a result, the IRS filed Substitutes for Return on behalf of our client for a number of years. The amount that the IRS was looking to collect was over $23,000.00. A Substitute for Return is a tax return prepared by the IRS that is typically not accurate and is often higher than the correct tax liability. The IRS subsequently issued notices to the taxpayer demanding payment of the Substitute for Return liability. After retaining Patrick T. Sheehan & Associates, we filed the taxpayer’s tax returns and successfully convinced the IRS to abate the Substitute for Return liability to the tax reflected on the taxpayer’s actual tax returns. In addition, a number of the tax returns reflected overpayments. The overpayments were sufficient to not only satisfy the liability for the years in which there was a tax due, but also generated a refund for our taxpayer.
