What Do You Do When You Receive a Summons From the IRS?

Posted on July 26, 2012

Have you or your bank received a Summons from the IRS? The IRS typically issues Summonses to third parties in order to obtain information related to an investigation it is conducting regarding your tax matters. The third-party record keeper is required to turn over the requested information to the IRS in response to this Summons. However, a taxpayer can file a Motion in the United States District Court seeking to quash the summons in order to prohibit the third-party record keeper from turning over the requested information. If the IRS has issued a summons to you or a third-party related to an investigation of your tax matters, call us, we can help.  Call 877 4 IRS LAW
